Wigan Youth Zone
Completion date—November 2015
This design and build contract comprised the refurbishment of an existing building and a new two storey extension to provide a bar, stage area, IT suite and offices on the first floor and an internal adventure soft play area, multi-sensory room, meeting room, kitchen and food area, baby and toddler room plus hygiene room to provide respite for children and young adults with special needs.
As part of the contract we created a link bridge to the existing Wigan Youth Zone. We also installed a lift into the new build extension. We installed an air conditioning system into the bar area on the first floor to provide ventilation. The completed building met BREEAM Standards. As part of our Corporate and Social Responsibility commitments we worked with students from Wigan Youth Zone who were attending the Employability Course to raise awareness of careers within the construction industry.
Our Considerate Constructors Score was 40/50 Performance Beyond Compliance.
