Congratulations to all who took part in the Team PLP Bike charity bike ride!
All ten of the team managed to complete the 100km challenge and they raised a whopping £4,267 for charity, this will be divided between Springhill Hospice and The Christie.
Next year’s challenge is already being planned…..
It’s been a busy and exciting few months at PLP Construction, with celebrations, sporting achievements, and well-deserved recognition across the team. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:
December 2024 – Christmas at Flight Club
We wrapped up 2024 in style with another fantastic Christmas Party at Flight Club in Manchester. A great night of fun, food, and festive cheer with the whole team!
February 2025 – Apprentice of the Year!
A huge congratulations to our 1st-year Groundworks Apprentice, Anthony Meninno, who was awarded Trainee of the Year at the Salford City College awards ceremony. We’re incredibly proud of Anthony’s hard work and dedication – a real star in the making!
April 2025 – Sutcliffe’s Annual Ball
Team PLP headed to Liverpool to attend Sutcliffe’s Annual Ball – a brilliant evening of networking and celebration with industry colleagues.
⚽ May 2025 – Football Tournament Fundraiser
Our PLP football team did us proud at the annual HBL Football Tournament, finishing as runners-up – officially the People’s Champions! The event raised an incredible £11,000 for charity, and we were delighted to take part in such a good cause.
♂️ May 2025 – Kieran’s Retirement
In May, we celebrated the retirement of our longest-serving team member, Kieran, who has been with PLP for nearly 40 years. Kieran’s dedication and commitment have been an inspiration, and he’ll be greatly missed. We wish him a long and happy retirement – and the kettle’s always on if he pops back in!
May 2025 – Hospice Big Breakfast with Kevin Sinfield
Team PLP also attended the Hospice Business Buddies Big Breakfast, where we heard an inspiring talk from rugby legend Kevin Sinfield about his journey and charitable work – a memorable morning for a great cause.

Joanne, our Director, visited The Houses of Parliament (see photos attached) April 2024 – Joanne was recently invited by The National Federation of Builders to attend a Skills and Training Event at The Houses of Parliament to meet Gillian Keegan, Secretary of State for Education and likeminded peers to discuss the industry skills shortage and how we can attract new talent into our industry!
5th July 2024 (photo attached) Team PLP won the HBL annual charity football tournament in July! Congratulations to Pat, Christy, Oliver, Cam, John and Tom – a great achievement and over £5000 raised for The Together Trust and John Shaw Foundation.
Another great day out at York Races this year, the weather didn’t dampen our spirits – a few wins, a few losses and some fun along the way!
1st Place – Best Development for Social-Affordable Rent
Anthony Brosnan and Mike Mills recently attended the Northern Housing Awards on Tuesday 2nd May 2023 at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford where our Dob Brook Close housing development in Newton Heath was awarded the Best Development for Social-Affordable Rent.
This is a fantastic achievement for the whole team and we were very pleased to win this award, especially with some stiff competition!
The team included:
Matthew Moss High School, Heywood – Joanne spent the afternoon working with Year 7 girls on an introduction to construction – lots of enthusiastic girls working on their team building schools to build some amaxing Tetrahedrane models!
October 2022 – we celebrated our 40th Anniversary with a get together for PLP staff, clients and suppliers that we have worked with over the last 40 years and who have helped us to be the business we are today!
Congratulations to John and Jack our PLP graduates who graduated from The University of Salford on Saturday, they have both worked incredibly hard studying part time whilst working.
Jack Green graduated with a 2:1 in Construction Project Management (accelerated degree).
John Farrell graduated with a 1st in Quantity Surveying.
Well done for achieving such fantastic results, your hard work paid off! We’re very proud of you!
PLP have really enjoyed engaging with the pupils and teachers at St Luke’s Primary School – as a company we are always keen to get involved in the communities we work in.
Whilst we’ve been on site at school building the seven classroom extension we have tried to involve the staff and children as much as possible by putting together a programme of activities including site visits throughout the build process so the staff and children could see the new building develop – we’re hoping to have inspired some future construction workers when we carried out a careers event with Year 6!
We’re also very proud to sponsor the school football team and hope they have a winning season!
Last week PLP invited the National Federation of Builders to join us for the day at St Luke’s – the NFB brought along their Virtual Reality Headset and let the children take a virtual tour of a James Bond Style Hotel to show them how 3D modelling is now being used in construction.
During the day the children also put their building and team working skills to the test by creating some amazing tetrahedrane models, PLP and the NFB were very impressed by the models the children created and how well they worked together!.
Phil Bradley and Joanne James attended the prestigious Considerate Constructors National Site Awards 2019 at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester which recognise and celebrate the commitment and achievements of the very best in UK and Irish construction.
PLP were very proud to be awarded THREE national awards – a bronze award for our Newlands School project, a silver award for our Spring Gardens project and a gold award for our Springside School project.
Only 7% of the 6700 eligible sites in the UK receive an award and it recognises the ‘best of the best’ construction sites that strive to raise the standards in considerate construction.
PLP are fully committed to improving the image of our industry and promoting the industry as a positive career choice to future generations and it is fantastic to be recognised for this.
We couldn’t do this without a lot of hard work from all PLP staff and these awards recognise that hard work and commitment!
PLP Construction are delighted to be working on a project for Peel building a new nursery in Trafford:
Peel Land and Property has broken ground on the new highly sustainable £1.5 million purpose-built nursery which will be TraffordCity’s first child care facility and one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in its portfolio to date.
The contemporary building, which will be developed by Peel Land and Property for multi-award winning nursery group Kids Allowed, will be a flagship development in terms of its green credentials, featuring the first Sedum mat green roof in TraffordCity as well as within its own portfolio.
The environmentally friendly Sedum mat green roof works by retaining and purifying rainwater which naturally reduces the amount of water flowing into the drain, therefore cutting the quantity of contaminates filtering into the drainage system. It also brings insulation and noise reduction benefits as well as an ever changing attractive green view for employees in the neighbouring Venus building to enjoy.
